This update implements a new tanning system, allowing tanlines with any combination of clothing. It also includes a large number of handheld props for various scenes, and UI improvements.
Thanks to Xao's code wizardry, the tanning system will now adapt and tan the PC dynamically, rather than only working with pre-set articles of clothing. You can buy sunscreen from the cosmetic shop if you want to keep your exposed parts protected. Note that the PC's face won't get tanlines, just a full tan.
Contributors have produced a crazy amount of art for handheld props, including sprites for every antique. Big thanks to all the spriters involved, including Beta, and to Kirsty for putting it all together.
This update makes a controversial change! It is no longer possible to successfully seduce Bailey. Many contributors pointed out that the ability to do so doesn't feel true to Bailey's character. Forgive me if this disappoints, but know that I've plans for Bailey lewdity in the future. Bailey is at the heart of the game, and seducing them will need to be a lot more involved.
In mechanical news, it's now possible to add a flat 15% chance to automatically fail most skill checks, an idea that has been suggested to me now and then. For now this requires access to the temple cloister, but I plan to add another location soonish.
Attention Android users! The Android version was built via a new method, courtesy of code wizard majou. As a result, it will install alongside the old version, rather than replace it as normal. You may need to move your saves over manually. Sorry for the trouble.
There are advantages to the new Android version however. Notably, Save to File now works, which should make managing saves much easier from now on.
Next update will add a new class to the school.

*Tanning overhaul, by Xao*:
- Reworked the tanning system completely. Can now gain tanlines for any combination of clothing. Tanning balance has also been changed. Tanning gains still depend on the sun intensity, like before.
- Skin tan gain is no longer linear. The tanning gain will slow down the more tanned the body part is.
- Tanning in a tanning bed should now be slightly more effective.
- When tanning nude in the tanning bed, you will now remove all clothing and accessories (so that you don't add any tanlines from accessories)
- Skin tan loss is now slightly slower. Will take approximately 100 days from full tan to no tan (if being away from the sun for the whole duration)
- Tanning now depends on the clothing you wear. Covered parts of the body will not get tanned from the sun.
- Tanlines will exactly match the clothing you wear when tanning. Any existing or future clothing will now work for tanlines.
- Added sunscreen to the cosmetics shop. Sunscreen prevents tanning. It can be applied at the Mirror. Thanks to KnotLikeThis.

- Tanlines will not be generated for the face or head. Face will always get full tan.
- NOTE: Any saves with the old tanlines will now be reset. When loading the save the whole body will get an equal tan.

I think you misread something, it says there's no tan*lines* on the face, and that face will always get a full tan (I.E, you can't get tan lines from glasses or masks).

Eden's kid being pursued by someone who wants to lock them away and is very violent both sexually and physically, Robin's kid being with someone who is extremely codependent to their kid's detriment, Whitney's kid being pursued by a bully who treats them like a sexual object to be passed around, Avery's kid being pursued by someone much older than them who is very abusive, and Kylar's kid having a creepy obsessive stalker who can be very dangerous.
2a. What about Alex, Corrupted Sydney, Black Wolf, and Great Hawk?
2b. Would this cause the Lis to reflect on how they treated the PC?
3. Though there is no death in DOL what would (High Love) Eden, Avery, Whitney, or Kylar do if they caused the PC to die from physical trauma?
3a How would Bailey react?
4. Are there plans to make Alex darker to be more in line with the other Lis?

Delete2. Eden wouldn't connect the dots, and would see the aggressor as very different from themselves. Whitney wouldn't either, but would be more receptive were it pointed out, and would feel terrible. Robin would get on well with them. Avery would intervene. Kylar would commit a crime.
2a. Alex would see themselves in them, and feel embarrassed. Corrupted Sydney is likely to encounter this very issue, and might be okay with it, though cautious. The black wolf would want to fight them. The great hawk would think them a good match.
2b. Aye, except Eden.
3. Eden would retreat deeper into the forest, where not even Bailey could find them. Avery would continue as normal, for a time at least. Whitney wouldn't recover. Kylar would burn half the town, then vanish.
3a. With anger.
4. No hard plans, though that was the original intention.

DeleteI don't know if this has been noted before but, I think it was in one of the confessionary events, someone mentions the Christian faith. So far I thought the world of DoL had its own faith going on, so I found it weird to see a mention of that. Is it a mistake in the writing or?

At a certain point in the game its difficult to fail certain checks, this is a nice addition so people can see what happens if they fail a check that they've never failed before without starting a new run. (idk if that was the intention with it, just what makes sense to me)
DeleteI'm one of the people who requested fail rates so I very much appreciate this addition. I just find things start getting boring if there's never much risk to things. So many threats just become nonexistent once you max certain skills. Things can just get a little stale if the outcome is always certain. Though I will now have to retrain my brain into Eden kidnappings being a real threat again now that stalking encounters won't be a 100% guaranteed escape anymore. Maybe I should go visit soon.
DeleteYeah, there’s definitely a point with a lot the stats (particularly willpower and athletics, in my experience) where once you’ve maxed them out the game can become very easy, which can be kind of disappointing for some people. A change like this is very welcome, although I’m eager for a non-temple method since the chastity-focused stuff doesn’t do much for me.

Both first meetings had my pc to put something on their face so.. i was wondering will these count as first meetings when pc meet them again through this new updated version. Will these affect the dialogue??

I don't mean that as in Sydney or Robin love interest, but more of "people of interest" like Niki and Doren.
2. Speaking of love interest, are we getting a new love interest in the future? To be honest I just wonder if we'll get another one, don't get me wrong I'm completely fine with what we got now :)
That's all the questions I got for today. Glad that tanning got a rework, I was so disappointed when I wore boyshorts and couldn't get that shorts tan back then BUT NOW I CAN :DD

Is there a reason the slider for Bailey's rent in the cost and gain settings was changed to only have 0, 100, 200, and 300%? I liked increasing it by 10% every week after hitting the initial cap. And if there is a reason for it, is it at least possible to have it be every 50 instead of 100?

Okay, Bailey, sure. I'll get right on that. But you're getting paid entirely in coins. Which does make me wonder, how would Bailey react if the PC paid the correct amount on time but entirely in coins?
I didn't realise the increments had been changed! I agree more granularity would be good.

ReplyDeleteYou'll need an app that can save txt files. I use Google drive. While in the save you want to transfer, go to the bottom of the save screen and copy to clipboard. Paste into your text app and save it as a txt file somewhere on your phone. In the new version, go to the bottom of the save screen and load from file and find the txt file you just saved.
Deletehow do you manage to copy all of it? some saves are over 50k lines of text long...
DeleteIf your system and your keyboard can't copy and paste all the charactersz you can try downloading microsoft swiftkey. It's an input method available for many phones.

ReplyDeleteWhenever the new plots about Eden released, I tried and played in the first time.
So I used the PC, who does not have the trait Stockholm Syndrome: Eden, to try the new Eden rescue scene. When the PC was taken to Eden's cabin, the PC was not imprisoned, but could move around the cabin and yard freely. The PC can make breakfast for Eden, go to the lake with Eden, take a bath with Eden, and even have consensual sex with Eden.
I think this is weird and illogical. Why wasn't the PC tied up with ropes and imprisoned as usual?

Reading the part about the tanning changes got me curious: Would you perhaps implement sunburn? Perhaps when combat gets overhauled? It could, for example, increase the players sensitivity to pain in combat, and perhaps outside of combat there could be a small passive pain gain, or certain events could be added or modified to account for a sunburn?

What would Whitney and Avery do if they switched bodies?
Since you mentioned that Whitney likes mint chocolate ice cream, how would they react if the PC teased them about liking to eat toothpaste? (No offense intended to those who enjoy mint chocolate)
I hope the PC's body shape is taken into consideration when the PC is having penetrative sex. For example, a tiny PC may be more difficult to be penetrated, especially when there is a larger penis, which may increase their pain value while being penetrated, and can also be described differently just like when penises of different sizes are inserted. I don’t know if this is easy to implement, but since the modification of the combat system has been put on the agenda, I would like to make some suggestions…

if Whitney and Avery switched bodies, Whitney would exploit Avery's money and connections to cause all sorts of trouble. Avery would do everything they could to return.
If the PC were to tease Whitney for liking mint ice cream, Whitney would threaten to force the PC to perform oral.
I'd like to involve the PC's body size more.

2) In those past Q&A's of Vrelnir (some of which were Q&A's that he and other players privately messaged in Subscribestar) - it's very unlikely that Avery would be able to generate the kind of genuine, romantic love that you're talking about. Or, if they do have love for the PCs, it's almost impossible to detect.

I heard about this game around March of this year but didn’t start playing it until after the July update had been done and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has worked so hard on the game. I’ve had a rough year this year due to familial issues and Whitney and Kylar have been such a nice little distraction from it all. So I just want to say thank you for creating them. Especially Whitney. I’ve always loved the whole bully x victim trope and Whitney really is a perfect example of why I adore that certain trope so much. I love how he gives the PC sprinkles of the smallest affection from here to there to reel them back in each time and keep them coming back for even more of him despite all the awful questionable things he continues to do to the player. Anyways, like I said before, thank you for making this game! I’m forever going to be grateful that I stumbled upon an interesting & fun game like this. I wish you all the best and can’t wait to see what’s to come in the future!

1. My PC likes going on beach “dates” with Sydney as a friend. If PC were to invite Kylar out for a fun beach day with Sydney, how would Kylar react? Same for if PC were to invite just Kylar alone out on a beach date, would they reject it? Or would they do their best to go along with it to make PC happy?
2. If PC were to confess to Kylar that they’re childfree(doesn’t want kids & is against having children), how would Kylar react to this news? Would this be enough to make Kylar leave them alone and stop being so obsessed with them?
3. I’m still new to the game so my apologies if there are already some in the game that I haven’t come across yet, but will there be scenes in the future where Whitney tries to stop PC from going on dates with Avery or riding in Avery’s car with him after school?

Only thing I can think of right now as a suggestion is I think it would be incredibly funny that when PC is holding a ballon, Whitney comes up from behind PC, rudely pops it, and runs away laughing. I can definitely see Whitney pulling some BS like that.

Sprites: Princess Wavy at max length has a weird floaty bit that shows behind the PC when you look close enough. With Feminine body type there are little gaps that show the background and make some of the clothing look off, this one is very small and isn't something that needs a lot of attention. It might not even be a bug, could just be me being overly picky.

Apologies for more ideas just after a welcomed sight of an update, but feel free to ignore them if you are ignoring we brainstormers. I understands.

Maybe we should lose breast size progress when doing work with arms and the upper body? Just a way to help people keep that stuff down without pills.
Maybe also let the character sprint around the town map everywhere as a toggle available outside, cutting the cost of travel time down by a minute [No further than that, as we aren't faster than a locomotive], and reducing risk of most normal encounters, or for some outright eliminating them [good and bad], at a cost of heavy fatigue gains that are slightly reduced by athletics, and a couple of bad events that currently exist might happen more often due to our incautious rushing [like Kylar issues, or clothes snagging on vehicles!], more chase encounters, and maybe a few events where we run into things, or slip when its rainy or snowy. Alsooooo, sprinting without shoes should kinda hurt, or when in heels [or impossible with low foot skill].
Maybe also allow cautiously sneaking around as a toggle as well with its own perks and quirks.
Lowered chances of bad events, and negates allure from beauty to a degree [if wearing a mask], and avoiding Stalkers [Primarily Kylar again, but also an angered wraith], all based on Skulduggery.
Of course... being shifty means risk of looking suspicious, so risk of crime gain by events involving being in the wrong place, being mistaken for a Perv by some people and attacked by vigilantes teaching 'lessons', and the paranoia makes traveling very slow [30 minutes per area].
As for wilderness things, make the good effects of hurrying or sneaking scale slightly with athletics or skulduggery respectively.
Also, can we make accessing Mason's pond easier, by getting rides from them if they like us.
... Perhaps also make us not need to be drenched in cum in class, and proclaim being attacked just to access Doren's flat? After all, some of us love getting sadistic kicks from hurting jerks in our playthroughs, not being victimized and drenched in slime. ;D
As for tanning, loving the changes, but have thought about forcing us to tan all-over in some scenes? Perhaps on behalf of Whitney, lest we get clobbered and dragged to the Spa by them!
I also know we are never instigators, but with the upcoming combat rework, could posing for cameras in combat increase combat fame if we do it after K.O.ing an attacker? Perhaps flavored as flipping the cameras the bird?
Could also spit on downed attackers after defeating one to the same effect.
If Robin's confidence is very high, but we begin to act like real stinkers to them, or mistreat npcs in their presence for no good reason, perhaps their good nature means they get pissed at us for once? perhaps even call us out on it if we do this enough.
[That and slightly related, make them confront us at us if they caught us sleeping with Kylar two times in a row and they are both out love interests, with confidence lowering their hesitation in confronting us about it, and perhap Robin would be wary of Kylar in the cafeteria scene from then on].
Last idea...
Add more jobs on the houses in Dunabe and Domus, that take into account housekeeping, and require us to be a maid, assistant to sickly or hurt people, or something else.

A new imagined scenario involving Mason.

We should have an option to find where Mason's clothes are, and to choose to swipe them as souvenirs, wear them (if we are naked without clothes), or leave them be.
If we swipe the clothes as souvenirs or to wear, then there is a few outcomes...
1. If we just took the clothes and leave without approaching Mason:
We hear mention of someone in school talk of Mason's trek back home naked, and Mason mention it off hand next time we are at the pond.
Maybe have an option to brag to gossipers about what we did for a status boost, only if we didnt steal the clothes to wear.
2. If we approach Mason with their clothes in possession:
We can show them the clothes we took, then they rightfully react like anyone might, telling the PC off for taking their things (and wearing them if we did) and pleading for their clothes back... we can comply, and end the scene peacefully (with a towel if we were previously wearing their clothes), or leave Mason to their fate but needing to pass a high athletics skill to get away as they chase us (losing the outfit and being put through a spanking if we fail, but scene 1 happens above if we get away, but Mason knows it was us in this case)

Variations of the scene depend on where and how happens it:
if we steal the clothes when Mason is st the pond then leave, then they retain a fragment of their modesty due to their swimsuit during their trek home.
If we took their clothes a few times first and then openly tease them once, they might ponder if we have a 'thing' for stealing clothes from swimmers, and call us a pervert... with another additional line of dialogue mentioning if they caught us stealing underwear in school prior to this scene and remarking they 'should have known this would happen', and another dialogue line if we got their classes forcibly taught naked by decree of Leighton where they ask us if we enjoy tormenting them.
If we bragged about taking their clothes to the school, then later speak with them at the pond, they will have heard mention of what we said via word of mouth, and be angry at us.
If we stole undies in school prior and got caught by them, but comply with giving Mason their clothes back in this scene, they seem relieved and/or surprised we didnt take their clothes.

The outcomes for this event chain would be:
In the cases we annoyed Mason, then we should definitely be forced to apologize before we can speak to them, and in the worst cases perhaps also have to admit our misbehavior at school and get very harsh detention to get their trust again.
If we didn't mention it in school nor go see Mason after subtly stealing their clothes to wear for ourselves, then heard the gossip at school, we can admit to our theft, apologize, and offer to return their things, at the pond.
The apology dialogue we give depending if we took it for our own modesty in desperation (perhaps they sympathize, but say we should ask next time), or kept it to admire (to their annoyance before just accepting our admission of guilt)....
... or the theft part can be repeated every month or so, if we say nothing of the incident for a free source of clothes, and maybe be able to sell the swimsuit or underwear parts of the generated outfit to the underwear thief at a high price at school if we aren't just keeping them to wear.
This last one stops working if we out ourselves and our antics to Mason later, as Mason would know better than too fully trust us afterwards, and finds a new spot to keep her things hidden.
(Side note: cant offer clothes back in above outcome when apologizing if we sold them... so omit that part in that case)

After playing a little longer and messing with it some, it looks like it actually is still changing in 10% increments, it's just the text under the slider itself that isn't changing anymore outside of increments of 100. I'll specify that I'm on the android version since I can't currently check if it also does it on the desktop version.

I would also add it is kinda unfair... my pc has the orgasm addict trait wich makes them very slowly increase their arousal and this pc is a submisive, so the others npc get their arousal raised very quickly and in order to not raise it so quick I do some bratty options in this update I need to do more bratty options wich rest the sub points ; A;... I am about to loose the moan for trying to get the 1000 points of masochism.

hello vrel, sorry for bothering you with another question, but I've been thinking about this for a while now.
ReplyDeletein a case where PC is dating Avery, Robin shows that they're afraid of Avery, and naturally they know PC has a special relationship with the businessperson. however, between all LIs, surely they can't be the only one who knows? with the way Kylar stalks PC and Whitney (if I recall correctly from other qna) asks around about the PC, there's no way they don't know about Avery. I imagine Eden might know too, but I'm not very knowledgeable about them to be so sure.
now my question is, why don't they do or say anything about it? considering their characters, I can't imagine they don't act against it because they're afraid like Robin do.

*I should also add, even if Whitney doesn't ask around, surely they (or their friends) have seen PC getting picked up by Avery after school, or at least heard about it? especially with the helicopter scene, I'm actually surprised no one's talking about PC having sugar mommy/daddy in school, haha
Delete**aw, dang it. I just realized I forgot to say that this is a situation where Avery is the secondary LI abd the other LIs who knows are the primary. so they're not just in a state of "having crush", if that makes a difference.
DeleteActually, it is supposed because they don't have the appropriate game content yet, which is a limitation of the gameplay. In lore, they indeed deserve to know each other and should respond to that. Even Eden is confirmed to have talked to Avery. Vrelnir did answer some similar questions in the past, and community Q&As are part of lore.
DeleteThese will be added to in the future if appropriate, like the Robin vs. Eden conflict scene added in the last update. The relationship between LIs can also be dynamic, moving towards compatibility or conflict, but the game is still primarily about exploring PC-centric content.
